Full Time Medical Biller Collector

A busy specialty practice in South Orange County is seeking a Full- time long-term medical biller/collector. The medical biller/collector will be responsible for the timely Billing, follow-up and reimbursement of claims filed by the Insurance Billing Department. The Billing/Collections Specialist will have oversight of the accounts receivable, and be responsible for maintaining detailed and accurate account documentation, and escalate payer issues to ensure timely reimbursement of air medical claims.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
o Daily follow-up of paper and electronic claims, including resolution of any billing errors
o Review accounts to be billed to commercial insurance Medicare and Medicaid
o Obtain additional information needed to appeal denied or underpaid claims.
o Ensuring that patient accounts are properly and completely documented with insurance information and all other pertinent information
o Escalation of payer issues to management at various payers
o Schedule rebills in a timely manner
o Ensuring that all appeals processes are followed when insurance sources do not pay properly
o Maintaining current knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations and ensuring the Patient Account Representatives have a detailed understanding of the Federal programs
o Establish and maintain online resources used in handling claims
o Maintain a workflow of 50-100 accounts to handle to conclusion

QUALIFICATIONS
o Strong organization skills
o Knowledge of medical billing and payer requirements.
o At least 3+ years of recent medical collections experience with an emphasis on claims reimbursement
o Working knowledge of the insurance industry and medical terminology
o Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care and Private Insurance.
o Proven problem-solving skills and communication skills
o Excellent customer service and telephone etiquette skills
o Ability to operate office machines including but not limited to:
computer, ten key, etc.
o Knowledge of Excel and Word
o Detail oriented with strong analytical skills
o Ability to navigate specific billing software
SKILLS AND COMPENTENCIES
o Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
o Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
o Proficient in Microsoft (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
o Required to become proficient in the use of a variety of computer-based systems.
o Self motivated and able to work independently
$18-20 an hr DOE

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
