VMI Accountant




James Hardie Industries plc had $2 billion in annual sales in fiscal year 2018 and a net operating profit of $229.2 million.   Our US Division represents approximately 75% of our world-wide business., with over $1.6 billion in revenue in fiscal year 2018 and 24% EBIT margin. James Hardie US has two core office locations within the US: Chicago, IL and Mission Viejo, CA.  US Accounting functions are based out of the Mission Viejo office, led by the Controller €“ US Division.


The VMI Accountant will assist the Accounting Manager in the reconciliation and review of Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) held on consignment


Position Responsibilities

  • Maintain and post transactions to the SAP sub-ledger including adjustments and transfers

  • Review inventory reports provided by VMI sites and reconcile to SAP sub-ledger

  • A key contact for business partners including VMI Management and Supply Chain

  • Play a key role in general process improvements and process documentation for all facets of VMI accounting

  • A key contact for the financial statement audit, quarterly reviews and internal audit as it relates to VMI

  • Supports the ongoing preparations for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance.

  • Partnering with other finance and non-finance groups to support design and implement process improvements.

  • Provide timely feedback to the Accounting Manager or other management to help resolve issues and/or inefficiencies.

  • Lead special projects as assigned by management.



  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum of 2 + years of professional experience with emphasis on inventory management and reconciliation

  • Strong Excel skills


  • Degree in Accounting or Business

  • Experience with SAP

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
