Architect I - BioInformatics

Bioinformatics Architect I, the role:   The Bioinformatics Architect I will have overall responsibility for the architecture and design of solutions that encompass a single or multiple departments and enterprise applications with a focus on bioinformatics applications and systems. The professional is responsible for evaluating the requirements of a business or IT ask and architecting an IT solution by developing an architecture and a high-level design document.  The Bioinformatics Architect I may also be asked to develop a level of effort (LOE) to support that request.    Solutions may cover a broad spectrum of the business (i.e. laboratory, billing, logistics, patient services, finance, legal, etc.) and applications/ technologies regardless of the architect's primary area of expertise. The Bioinformatics Architect I is responsible for the creation and presentation of a number of artifacts including, but not limited to: Architecture overview documents Solution sketches Data models Integration patterns LOE estimates Each of the above supporting the development of Advanced Diagnostic tests and the underlying technology ecosystem. The Bioinformatics Architect I is further responsible for leading other technical & non-technical team members and provides design oversight and guidance at varying levels during project execution. Finally, the Bioinformatics Architect I is charged with ensuring solutions are in support of strategic goals for the company - both business and IT.   Job responsibilities: Evaluates high level requirements from demand managers, analysts, other architects and business partners for completeness and accuracy Engages with project teams across all spectrums of business to triage requests and determine solution options Develops, documents and presents solutions to members of multiple architecture, development and infrastructure teams for purposes of solution development and or the gathering/refining of estimates Leads and drives solution discussions both with business and other IT personnel Organizes and leads cross-functional discussions within the IT and business organizations in support of solution development Guides, directs and provides technical leadership to cross-functional project teams throughout project execution life-cycle Ensures both requests and solutions are in alignment with strategic goals Manages solutions across multiple initiatives and teams simultaneously Provides input to RFPs and RFIs being presented to or developed by Quest Diagnostics on behalf of the IT organization Evaluates technical capabilities of vendors on behalf of Quest Diagnostics Creates and presents solutions with varying options covering both tactical and strategic needs as necessary Rules on technical or architectural disputes Ensures adherence to established standards and processes Provides managers with technical performance assessments Recognizes new/evolving trends and ensures personal growth and skill maintenance as a contributor. Analyzes new technologies to resolve business problems Works with vendors to better understand how features and interfaces of outside applications can facilitate the fulfillment of customer requests To qualify, the ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience: 5+ years demonstrated experience in Laboratory IT environment working with enterprise level systems operating in a regulated environment (CLIA , HIPAA, 21CFR11, etc.) Experience with genomic and/or other bioinformatics-related big-data and system design such as NGS genomic sequence data management and processing using tools like GATK, Aspera, and HAIL, and clinical genetics review and release workflows Experience with cloud-based and container architecture including Docker and the associated stack (Kubernetes, etc), Azure or AWS Experience designing and/or building BioInformatics solutions in a laboratory setting BS degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or related technical field with 5+ years of demonstrated IT design and/or architectureexperience, or MSdegree with 3+ years of experience In addition: Has deep technical expertise in one or two technology domains Demonstrated in depth understanding of one or more enterprise level applications supporting the Laboratory Demonstrated ability to influence with credibility across business functions or technologies with analysis (based on prior experience). Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, oral/presentation and written communication skills in both technical and non-technical language.          Strong leadership, project and team building skills - ability to lead teams and drive projects and initiatives by working effectively with others with a demonstrated ability to work cross-departmentally. Demonstrated ability to deliver under tight timelines with minimal oversight and input Strong collaborator - willingness to share ideas, documentation and best practices. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
