Senior NGS Scientist - the role   The Senior NGS Scientist will participate on the team of Advanced Diagnostics Core Lab scientists in the development and transfer of Next Generation DNA Sequencing (NGS) technology and core support automation to Lab Operations.  The Senior Scientist evaluates current and emerging technologies for potential use, and will be expected to work in the laboratory.   Job responsibilities Develop, plan, conduct and record results from complex experiments within a specific product or technology area. Perform laboratory experiments following defined protocols and company procedures. Report status of assigned projects through the preparation of detailed reports and documentation that summarize experiment results. Interpret results of experiments and recommends alternative experiments. Prepare protocols, reports, work instructions (SOPs) and other written materials that meet Quality System Requirements. Work within established parameters on individual assignments, on project teams for longer-term projects or as a leader for a project team or group. Present experimental results to supervisor or project team members and contribute ideas to improve team processes. Participate in technical decisions affecting product development issues. Identify problems, investigate alternatives and recommend possible courses of action. Work with team members and other Business Unit personnel (operations, product transfer, project management, and quality departments) to meet department and project objectives. Interact with cross-functional teams including: research and development, finance, business development, quality and regulatory departments. May prepare and/or contribute to articles for publication. Present information at project meetings and may present findings at scientific meetings or to customers. May attend technical conferences or seminars. Maintain knowledge of technological developments that may assist in the completion of an assignment or lead to new products, processes or procedures by reading current literature. Effectively utilize and apply advanced methods or technologies. Contribute ideas for new product development typically within existing markets.   To qualify, the ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience: Strong knowledge of various molecular technologies; such as, Next Generation Sequencing, RNA-Seq, RT-PCR, ddPCR, microarray, and other emerging technologies.  Ability to perform due diligence of vendors, technologies and assays for ability to commercialize.  Experience assessing novel strategies to optimize the NGS work-flow. Experience in laboratory automation workflow design and programming is strongly desired. An advanced degree (M.A./Ph.D.) in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related scientific discipline. Two to five (2-5) years of prior relevant experience often acquired in an academic or industrial environment with a Ph.D., at least 4 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree, or at least 6 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
